Last week I celebrated my birthday and completed the “year of firsts” with the anniversary of Poupon’s death the day before. This has been a pivotal time in my life. Death and loss have a way of inspiring growth and healing if you commit to the process and I’m very grateful to have done so.
I normally celebrate my birthday quietly with family and friends, but this year I was inspired to do something different after reading a story about a man who gave the gift of cat adoptions to people on his birthday.
So, in celebration of mine, I’ve decided to do the same. In honor of Poupon and my love of wildlife and nature, Michael and I have chosen to sponsor the adoption of ten cats from the no-kill shelter where we adopted Poupon more than eleven years ago. Once we did this, something great happened. While having dinner with our friends Matt and Karyn Khatib, owners of M.K. Benatti Jewelers in Newburyport, MA, we mentioned our idea and they immediately offered to match it with ten more!
Don’t you just love people who love animals?
So, if you live in the New England area and are ready to add a massive amount of joy to your life, please visit the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society (mrfrs.org) on the day after Thanksgiving and help us celebrate “Forever Home Friday!” If you find an angel that’s right for you, the adoption fee is on us once you apply and are accepted.
Oh, and please consider this a sign if you’ve been thinking about rescuing a cat .
If you don’t live nearby (and I know many of you don’t), could you please do me a favor and share this email with anyone you know who lives near Massachusetts, Maine, or New Hampshire? Our goal is to find twenty cats loving, forever homes in one day and it would mean so much to me.
And, as thank you for helping me to celebrate my birthday in this special way, I invite you to add your name to our “Good Stuff Giveaway” list so you become eligible for a surprise gift and card from me. Chances are good you’ll receive something – I send out gifts all the time! You can add your name here.
As we celebrate Thanksgiving here in the states this week, I want you to know how grateful I am to you for being a loyal member of my online family. I wish you and your loved ones a peaceful and joyful holiday!
P.S. – You can see all of the beautiful cats available for adoption at mrfrs.org, here.
P.P.S. – This week’s Facebook Live will be held on Wednesday, November 21st at 6pm EST/3pm PST. You can watch past sessions on my YouTube channel at CherylRichardsonTV here.
