Week 1 – Bye Bye 2013 and here’s what’s in store for 2-0-1-4!

Happy New Year!

I have a good feeling about 2014.

And I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready to say “Au Revoir” to 2013.  For me, it was a year of big changes as the old structures that no longer served me came tumbling down around me.  It was scary and unsettling at times, but in retrospect the reconstruction project provided me with some important lessons.

Lesson number one was about letting go.  By holding on too long to the people and situations I’d outgrown, I essentially invited Life to step in and conduct a little cosmic rug pulling.

We learn and grow through trial and error and I’m not sure I could have done it any differently.  Next time I do hope to let go a little sooner though #x1F600; .

Lesson number two was about making peace with the unknown.  I like having a plan.  I’ve always been a goal setter who creates a strategy for success.  But my approach is changing.  I’ve acquired enough evidence to know that there’s a higher order to life.  Sometimes we need to stop and make space for the outer world to catch up with our inner growth without knowing what’s in store.  It’s an organic process that requires patience and faith – two more lovely qualities I’ve had the privilege of developing this year #x1F600;.

Lesson number three was about returning to my roots.  I love writing and teaching from my own experience – always have and probably always will.  As I’ve brought more vulnerability and authenticity to my writing, I’ve received such wonderful feedback from so many of you, and I deeply appreciate the validation.  We’re all in this together, doing our best to grow and evolve as we travel through life, and it’s good to know I’m not alone.

I’m also putting more energy behind events that will give me a chance to work on a deeper level with people.  I’m in the business of changing lives, after all, and that doesn’t happen overnight (sorry about that).

I’d love to tell you about a few…

First of all, I’m running my yearlong “Art of Extreme Self Care” online program with Hay House again and I’ll be taking your calls live for the kick-off class on February 12th.  This is a 12-month web class that has helped more than a thousand people to slowly and systematically practice better self-care (the best way to create long-lasting change).  I like the long format because it promotes the kind of growth that sticks and it allows me to provide you with plenty of success stories, strategies, and support.  You can learn more about “The Art of Extreme Self Care” web event here.

I’m really looking forward to the retreat at Miraval with Alanis Morissette and my husband Michael Gerrish. I started teaching at Miraval more than twelve years ago after asking myself how I could practice extreme self-care while at work.  Miraval is an extraordinary place to learn and grow and while I know these retreats are a big investment, they provide big results. Nearly every person who’s attended one has had a profound, life-changing experience.

Self Care for the Creative Soul celebrates the joy and power of creative expression by showing you how to honor your essence – the most authentic, sensitive part of you – at home and at work.  The most fulfilling thing we can do with our lives is to experience the joy of using our gifts and talents in a way that helps heal the world.  What I love most about this format is that it gives me a chance to work in-depth with people, using a variety of tools like laser coaching, tapping therapies, intuition, and self-reflective exercises that reconnect us with our innate wisdom.  You can read all about the retreat here.

I’m so happy to be headed back to London in late May and early June for “Speak, Write & Promote: Become a Mover & Shaker” and a new, one-day intensive called “Self Care Boot Camp.”  I think of London as a second home and I love teaching there. The SWP program is for those of you who are ready to bring your product, service, teaching, or book to a larger audience, and the second is for those who are ready to raise their level of self-esteem and ‘deservability.’  The boot camp is also for coaches who want to learn how to use advanced coaching techniques with their clients.

You can learn more about Speak, Write & Promote here.

Finally, I’ll be back at some of the “I Can Do It” conferences in the U.S. – always a great event for inspiration and making new friends, as well as joining forces with Reid Tracy once again for our “Next Step” coaching intensives.  These daylong programs are for twelve authors/speakers and twelve business owners who want a more personal coaching session with us.  You can read all about these programs here.

There are a few more exciting plans in the works, so be sure to subscribe to my weekly newsletter to get the scoop first.  One program will provide free coaching to community members from around the world (on a regular basis), so stay tuned!  You can subscribe on the homepage here.

As we enter into the New Year, I hope you’ll be kind and gentle with yourself.  Let’s go back to where it all begins, shall we?  How about this for a New Year’s resolution…
