Week 22 – Vacation: Taking a break

Dear Friends,

I’m taking a break ;). I just finished the final edits on my next book and I need a rest. It’s called The Art of Extreme Self Care: Transform Your Life One Month at a Time, and it will be released at the beginning of January, 2009. The book is similar to Life Makeovers, except that it’s a monthly program that offers a way to practice Extreme Self Care every month for a year. It’ll make a great tool for those of you in Life Makeover Groups and I’m also making arrangements to have the book available exclusively to members of this community in December (before anyone else sees it :). I’ll keep you posted on the progress.

Because I just finished the book and am heading out to the Celebrate Your Life conference in Chicago, I’ve decided to take a few days off to practice a little extreme self care of my own. Hence this vacation message. I’ll be back again next week with a new newsletter, and in the meantime, I thought I’d send you one of my favorite quotes — it’s something I use while writing when I find myself questioning wether or not I have something important to share with the world. It’s by Martha Graham. I hope her words speak to you.

“There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening

that is translated through you into action,

and because there is only one of you in all time,

this expression is unique. If you block it, it will

never exist through any other medium and be

lost. The world will not have it.

It is not your business to determine how good

it is; nor how valuable it is; nor how it compares

with other expressions. It is your business to

keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the

channel open.

You do not even have to believe in yourself or

your work. You have to keep open and aware

directly to the urges that motivate *you*.

Keep the channel open . . .

No artist is pleased . . .

There is no satisfaction whatever at any time.

There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction;

a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and

makes us more alive than the others.”

Have a wonderful week…

Love,

Cheryl
