Thank you to all the wonderful people I met both on the Australian cruise and in Sydney during my event with Wayne Dyer. Louise Hay said I’d fall in love with the people of Australia and she was absolutely right. Thank you for the warm welcome and I look forward to visiting Sydney and Melbourne with Louise in August! Stay tuned for details.
I’m back live on the radio this week (1/30 at 5pm ET/2pm PT) and you can listen by visiting HayHouseRadio.com. You can also call for laser coaching at (866) 254-1579. Join me!
Have a great week!
Love,
Cheryl

As I’ve been going through email now that I’ve returned from Australia, I learned that someone I admire and respect very much – Dr. Christiane Northrup, has released a newly revised and updated version of her book, The Wisdom of Menopause.
Her books (and her gutsy work) changed my life.
While on the cruise in the South Pacific, I walked the deck every day and often listened to audio recordings of Dr. Northrup’s lectures from the “I Can Do It” conferences. It’s one of my favorite forms of self-care. Chris is smarter than smart, funny as hell, and filled with empowering wisdom that EVERY woman needs to know. Over the years, her brave, pioneering voice has led millions of women to take charge of their health and I want everyone to know about her work.
Here are just a few of the lessons I’ve learned from Dr. Northrup:
~*~ Be a partner with your doctor. Don’t make your doctor mom or dad (or God). Take responsibility for your life by learning about your emotional, physical, and spiritual health. Then find a doctor who can partner with you on your journey. (If you read her first book, Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom – also newly updated – you’ll be way ahead of the game).
~*~ When faced with any health challenge, take your time when making decisions about what to do next. There is rarely (if ever) a need to act immediately on a diagnosis. Take a step back, breathe, get more information, breathe some more, and always consider a second or third opinion. Don’t rush to do something because you’re scared. Fear doesn’t make good decisions.
~*~ Use the perimenopausal years to your advantage. Celebrate your inability to tolerate bad behavior. Revisit the desires that started to flourish during your adolescence and do something about it. Use that big, beautiful voice of yours that’s been seduced into silence for too long (even if you don’t do it graciously at first). Don’t go kicking and screaming into the “change” stage of your life. Welcome the changes with open arms (and supportive friends) and you’ll find a power within that you never knew existed – a power that will fuel an extraordinary next phase of your life.
~*~ Your biography influences your biology. If you treat an illness without looking at the root causes – past trauma, emotional pain, years of resentment or martyrdom, or keeping your mouth shut when you should have been screaming, you’ll only treat the symptoms and not the source of the problem. Be brave and dig deep.
Dr. Northrup is one of the few women with ovaries big enough to speak the truth in a profession where the truth isn’t popular. I, for one, am grateful to her for the influence she’s had on my life and the lives of millions of women around the world. So, I share her good work whenever and wherever I can…
This week, when a friend told me that her doctor said, “We should do a hysterectomy to get the fibroids out because your uterus is just a baby carriage and you don’t need it anymore,” I could barely contain my rage. This kind of misinformed, unconscious treatment of women needs to stop. And it begins with us – the informed patients.
So, instead of screaming and yelling and complaining about how the medical profession needs to put an end to its disease diagnosing, symptom treating, cut it out mentality, I took what I’ve learned from Dr. Northrup over the years and put it to good use…
