Meet Wes D’Alelio

He’s a young man with a beautiful voice who’s committed to doing everything he can to achieve his dream of becoming a successful, employed songwriter. Last year, he vowed to write one song a day and post it on Instagram to hone his skills. I started following him and was impressed by his talent. Even more so by his dedication and hard work.

Recently, Wes D’Alelio debuted his first single, “Far From Home.” After listening to it several times, I caught myself humming it throughout the week. It’s a catchy tune.

Why am I telling you about Wes? Because in the midst of all the chaos and uncertainty here in the U.S., I’ve started my own daily challenge. I’ve decided to do something meaningful for at least one person a day.

Yesterday, I texted Wes to tell him how much I loved his new single, his strong alto voice, and his solid storytelling skills. I encouraged him to believe in this talent and ability and to keep going even when faced with obstacles. I didn’t tell him I’d be writing about him here but decided to make it an added bonus. If you feel so inclined, please give “Far From Home” a listen and maybe even follow Wes to help increase the numbers for this promising young artist 😀.

While I can’t control world politics, I can control my own inner climate, and being helpful and supportive of others is a surefire way to feel good (and empowered). That and regulating my nervous system with daily exercise, cats in my lap, coaching wonderful clients, following sensible news outlets like Jessica Yellin (NewsNotNoise.com), and supporting organizations that provide guardrails for democracy. Most of all, I’m staying connected to the people I love.

Today, I visited my mother-in-law, whom I suspected could use a little spirit-lifting. After taking her to the beach to stare at the waves and introducing her to the importance of getting ice cream in winter, we both felt better and I drove home feeling more hopeful than helpless. That’s what spreading love does.

Instead of waking up with a dreadful pit in my stomach, worried about the chaos that may ensue, I’m taking charge. I’m beginning my day with a plan for who I’ll support and how. If you’d like to join me, please do, and let me know what you come up with. I may adopt an idea or two!

Love,

Cheryl
