Week 52 – Holiday happenings and acts of rebellion.
I’m excited to be hosting my first “Self-Care Boot Camp” in the U.S. for both a general audience and professional coaches. It’ll be held in Seattle in February and you can get all the details here.

Holiday happenings and acts of rebellion.
It’s Saturday night and the wind is howling up here on the hill where we live. It’s finally starting to feel seasonably cold even though I understand we’re in for sixty-degree weather on Christmas day.
I may have to throw on a pair of shorts and visit the beach as an act of delightful rebellion against winter #x1F600;.
This year I’m enjoying a quiet holiday. No rushing. No marathon shopping excursions. No long drives in the kind of stop-n-go traffic that makes me want to scream at the top of my lungs.
Instead, I’ve given myself an early present – the gift of space.
I’m sitting here wrapped in one of those delicious furry-soft blankets you can buy for $19.99 at Home Goods (one of my favorite stores), sipping tea, enjoying a fragrant balsam fir candle, and listening to the wind.
Every now and then a little voice creeps in and says, but you’ll miss your family and friends and festive parties. Are you sure you want to have such a laid back Christmas?
No. But I’ve learned that healthy self-care requires us to sit with sadness as we explore new, important needs.
So I take a deep breath and center myself on what is.
I wanted my holidays to be easy this year. I wanted to be present and relaxed and able to do whatever I felt spontaneously called to do.
Like this afternoon when I drove downtown and ambled through the local shops, sipping a warm decaf cappuccino (with frothy almond milk), while waiting for the right presents to find me.
No pressure. No anxiety about getting everything done. No desperately trying to track down the perfect gift.
I’m changing the rules of the game – at least for this year.
Anyway, all this to say that I’m wishing you a very Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, plenty of peaceful tidings, and a week filled with love and gratitude for what is – whatever life might look like in your world #x2665;.
(Oh, and permission to spend this week any way your sweet little self wants to #x1F600;).
Happy, Happy Holidays!
